GCAP’s Ammonia Operator I Competencies using RETA Book 1

Prerequisite: Suggested 6 months experience

All of this material is covered or introduced to the student at our seminar. The course will incorporate running hands on equipment in the lab if taken at GCAP’s facility. This selection of material will allow success in companies training structure and it follows the new IIAR Task Force Guideline using RETA’s 2012 IAR Book 1 and GCAP’s Supplemental Material.

RETA book 1 was revised and expanded in 2010, this 10-chapter course is designed for refrigeration plant personnel. It is a foundation course that will help individuals become knowledgeable and proficient in refrigeration systems. Topics include fundamental items and concepts used by the refrigeration plant operator in the course of duty, the refrigeration cycle, physical properties of various refrigerants, refrigerant performance tables, compressor types, compressor operation and maintenance, lubrication, cooling units, condensers and high pressure receivers and purging non-condensable gases from the refrigeration system. Diagrams, tables, study questions, exams and a glossary help the student bring key concepts into focus.  Also inclduded in this class will be GCAP’s material on introduction to PSM/RMP and Ammonia the HHC.
